Mentoring, after-school care, and family help that show up week to week

Most of this work happens at the Purpose Center on Olive Road, the same doors families use for afterschool pickup, mentor nights, and resource questions. Call, refer, or walk in: if you are raising a child here or coordinating care, we want you to reach a human answer.

Free Afterschool Program (Grades 1–8)

Structured after-school hours at the Purpose Center on Olive Road: homework help, mentoring, and enrichment so caregivers know where their child is and who is in their corner.

  • Schedule built around the school week and pickup routines
  • Adults who learn names and show up again next Tuesday

Men in Training

For boys and young men who need men in the room who return: character, discipline, and identity shaped through consistent mentoring, not one-off speeches.

  • Male mentors who track progress across sports, school, and life
  • Accountability that still feels like belonging in Augusta

As a single mother in Augusta, I've watched Men in Training mentors show up for my son Noah academically, athletically, and spiritually, becoming father figures he can count on.

MIT Workforce Pathway

Teens preparing for work or training get resume help, exposure to local paths, and adults who take their timeline seriously, without talking down to them.

  • Interview and workplace communication practice
  • Career exposure shaped by what Augusta employers actually hire for

STEAM and Digital Skills Workshops

Hands-on projects that build tech fluency and creativity, especially for youth who need access, tools, and a patient teacher in the room.

  • Project-based sessions hosted at the Purpose Center
  • Digital skills tied to homework, creativity, and first jobs

Purpose Life and Leadership Skills

Communication, goals, and follow-through: skills that keep a young person trusted at home and employable downtown, taught with patience and repetition.

  • Practiced conversations, not personality labels
  • Short-term goals that match this semester, not a five-year poster

Family Empowerment

When custody, rent, health, or a crisis stacks up, caregivers need a steady voice, not another runaround. We help you plan the next practical step.

F.I.R.E. Family Impact Programs

Coaching and stabilization for caregivers when the plan on paper does not match life at home. We stay in touch until the next right step feels doable: not perfect, but clear.

  • Family-centered planning instead of a one-size checklist
  • Touchpoints when stress is high and answers are hard to find

Health and Wellness Programs

Education and activities that honor bodies, emotions, and relationships, especially when stress lands as fatigue, tension, or silence at the dinner table.

  • Language caregivers can reuse at home the same week
  • Community moments that normalize asking for help in Augusta
Ask about wellness offerings

Community Resource Center

Walk in or call: we help Augusta families cut through voicemail trees and dead links to resources that still answer the phone when it matters.

  • Navigation for food, housing, medical, school, and emergency aid
  • Follow-up so a referral does not become a dropped handoff
Get resource navigation help

Community Impact

Schools, courts, CASA, and churches were never meant to carry a childhood alone. We tighten the handoff so youth hear fewer conflicting answers.

CASA partnership, DA/court-connected youth support, community resource center access, and strategic community events.

CASA Partnership

We coordinate with CASA and advocacy partners so youth in complex situations hear fewer mixed messages, and caregivers know who is responsible for what.

  • Shared pathways with court-adjacent and advocacy partners
  • Practical support for adults trying to protect a child's stability

DA Partnership and Court-Connected Youth Support

Mentoring and accountability for court-connected youth in Augusta: adults who show up on time, tell the truth, and help map a constructive next chapter alongside DA and court partners.

  • Mentoring that respects court expectations and human dignity
  • Planning aimed at school, work, and repaired relationships, not shame cycles
Refer court-connected youth

Major Community Events and Strategic Partnerships

City-wide gatherings, partner tables, and visibility work that connect neighbors who want to help with families who need a real door to walk through.

  • Events where practical help sits next to inspiration, not either/or
  • Churches, employers, and agencies pulling in the same direction for youth
  • Flagship conferences like Let’s Talk About Sex extend relationship education regionally. See Events for the latest.
